30/365

I love this shot of my sister-in-law.  The bokah light in the trees behind her is so beautiful.

5 on Friday

1:  I was sick part of this week so to be honest, I didn't take very many photos.  It has been a very uninspiring week around here.

2:  Went to the park early in the week.  Nothing exciting from that trip except for getting very nice photos of a girl who has pretty much outlawed photos of herself anywhere.  Since I am pretty sure she doesn't read this here is a sample.

3:  Boiling mint leaves in the house makes it smell wonderful.  The real thing is better than any candle.  Hmmm... wonder if boiling would work with honeysuckle.  My fave!

4:  Earlier this week (in a 365) I explained Kiera and Alana's game of fetch.  (see 28/365)  This is a better depiction of that game.

5:  Had my camera in the bathroom for Kiera's bath Thursday.  Her aunt Caley was in there to help.  There was a lot of spiking and mowhawking.  Then I found some old kids sunglasses.
Oh yea... and the stuff on her face are kiss marks.  She wanted kisses all over her face.  So she got lipgloss kisses.

That was my week... Hope yours was more interesting.

28/365

I love this photo.  And this edit.  Kiera was playing fetch with Alana.  Well sort of... Alana would chase the stick and Kiera would bring it back to be thrown again.  Ahh... teamwork.
The edit is The Coffee Shop Blog's Sun kissed action with a few tweeks to it.  I think that it is my favorite action right now.

5 on Friday

1:  This week we went to the beach.
Okay, you caught me.  We didn't really go to the beach.  We live in a completely land-locked state.  No beaches near us.  Kiera and I just played in the driveway with the water hose.  Not quite as exciting, I know.

2:  We did go to the lake though.  We literally got there at sunset.  This gave me the opportunity to try something new.  Silhouettes.
3:  Can laundry be dramatic?  It isn't even MY laundry... and it is no where near finished.  Probably another 3 days of washing. *sigh*
4:  I love the actions by The Coffee Shop Blog!  They have some great ones and they are all free!  LOVE IT!
5:  An idea for a really cool picture entered my mind the other day.  Camera + Cheerleader = really neat motion photo.
FAIL!
Believe it or not there is a cheerleader stunting all the way across the yard in this photo.  I couldn't see her either.  It was a good idea... guess I need to study on it a little.  I did manage to get some good flip pictures though.

Kiera is a cheerleader in training.  Her aunt is teaching her how to be a flyer.  Of course, her daddy has been training her for this since she was 6 months old.
There must have been a bird.

That was my week... how was yours?

Paper Mama photo challenge: Parenthood

Kiera and her daddy on a trip to a local zoo taken a few weeks ago.

The Paper Mama

18/365

Went fishing today for about 10 minutes.  Kiera got really bored really quickly.  I only had time to snap about two photos before we left.  It was hot though so I didn't mind all that much.

5 on Friday

1:  I was able to put Kiera's hair into two even non-bubbled pigtails this week.  This is a big deal for me!  I knew that I needed to document it.  Of course, they were on the 3 year old who has decided that she no longer wants her photo taken.

She thinks that she is so funny.  I am pretty sure that she was crossing her eyes.
I had to tell her to pull pieces off the tree to keep her distracted.  Bribery doesn't work but destruction does... who knew!

2:  We went to the park the same day.  Same pigtails, different clothing choices.  If it is dangerous you had better believe that she is there doing it.

Go FASTER!!!

Can't do anything the easy way...

3:  I am almost finished editing the photos that I took at the Botanical Gardens annual cocktail party last week.  I knew that I took bunches of pictures but good grief!

4:  Last summer the neighbors and ourselves made a home-made slip-and-slide in the front yard.  We tried it again the other day... Didn't work quite as well.  My sister-in-law had to throw Kiera down the hill.  (The tall grass is still on the neighbor's side)

5: If you read my Project 365 then you already know that we all went to my sister's house this week.  I got some touching pictures of Kiera and her cousins.
The dark haired little girl is a very good jumper for a two year old... but with two older brothers it is sink or swim.
And finally one with cool Kiera hair!
That was my week... how did your week go?

15/365

Playtime.  Went to my sister's house today and Kiera and her two cousins were playing on the trampoline.  The shot was taken in manual mode and the lighting was tricky.  It was cloudy and she has lots of trees.  The hardest part though... getting all three to jump at the same time.

Pigtails in the yard.
There is just something that I love about this photo.  It isn't the greatest composition.  There is nothing amazing about it.  Just my daughter walking in the side yard.  Pigtails, barefeet, and long pants in 90 degree weather.  3 year olds!

And the tall grass belongs to my neighbor not us.

12/365

My second successful attempt at the dreamy light glow SOOC.  The expression on my daughter's face should be an indicator of how long we were sitting in the grass taking photos.  Of course she was bored by the second shot anyways.  My confidence has been failing more and more lately.  Mainly because I still don't seem to have the hang of using my spot exposure meter.  I know that part of my issue is trying to use a 3 year old as a test subject.  I can't lock on an exposure reading because she has already moved by the time I am glancing that 1/4 of an inch to the meter bar.  I need subjects that are not in a constant state of movement.  I feel too hurried.

5 on Friday

1:  I need a new model.  Since I am just learning many of the settings on my camera I need a subject to photograph.  My logical choice is always Kiera.  Unfortunately, she is 3 and looses interest in posing long before I have figured out what I am trying to figure.  Obviously.

2: Kiera has now evolved past loosing interest in posing as my model.  She yelled at me... Actually YELLED at me to stop taking her picture!  I even tried to bribe her... didn't work.

3: Most kids play in the sprinklers.  My daughter drinks from them.

4:  This has to be the best thing that happened to me this week.  Kiera is always a blessing... but this was pretty cool too!  I was an official sponsor!

5:  Finding five things to write about should be easier than this.  Honestly, I forgot that it was Friday.  This is going to take practice.  Please don't hold it against me.
